Our terms and conditions below give you a clear understanding of how The Music Den conducts it’s teaching practice.

•  Lessons are conducted on a weekly basis during term time only. On receipt of this agreement we will issue you with our timetable for the current academic year. Please note that lessons are not carried out on Bank Holidays. For more advanced students or students wanting extra lessons outside of the scheduled tutoring weeks, please let us know and we’ll do our best to facilitate it. Lesson fees will be reviewed in either September or April.

•  For your convenience, investment in lessons is spread out over 12 months via a monthly standing order of £91.67 (Roundwood Park School) and  £99.95 (The Music Den) payable on the 1st of each month and is based on 38 lessons per academic year. The monthly direct debit remains in place until notice to cancel has been received. (Please see bank details for any intermediate payments). In order to secure your slot we require a cancellation deposit of £183.34 (Roundwood Park School) and £199.90 (The Music Den). Lesson times will remain the same each week and once a time has been agreed with the student/parent, this will remain as your slot until further notice. If you can’t make some of the dates during the term and unable to commit to continued lessons, we may offer your slot to students on our waiting list. The standing order confirmation, cancellation deposit and signed booking form must be received prior to the 1st lesson in order to secure your slot.

•  Please note that we are not able to reschedule missed or cancelled lessons for any reason. Fees are non-refundable.

•  In the unlikely event one of our tutors has to cancel your lesson, you will of course not be charged. Occasionally, we may have to  reschedule lessons but will endeavor to minimise this as much as possible. If a mutually convenient time cannot be found, you will obviously not be charged. On occasion it maybe necessary to change tutor for a single or series of lessons to help us facilitate tutor
scheduling. However, this will be kept to a minimum and we will give you advance notice prior to the scheduled lesson time. For peace of mind, all out tutors are DBS checked. In the event of ‘force majeure’, severe weather disruption or any other ‘acts of god’ we will contact you prior to 10am on the day of tuition to inform you if lessons are to go ahead or be cancelled. We will also post this info on our FB page – musicdenharpenden.

•  Termination of lessons requires written notice either via post or email. Once we receive a decision to stop lessons, the two-month cancellation deposit then comes into effect. If we fill the slot within that period, a pro-rata refund for the remaining lessons will be issued within 28 days. Please be aware that we will endeavor to fill the slot with another student as quickly as possible so the final lesson date may vary.

•  For lessons at The Music Den students are to arrive no sooner than five (5) minutes before their lesson time and are to be picked up no later than five (5) minutes after their lesson. In order to minimise disruption to lessons, please wait on the chair provided in the lobby area. If you are running late because of unforeseen circumstances, please email info@themusicden.co.uk to let us know.

•  Parents are responsible for making sure that their child makes it safely from their car to the front door and that their child returns safely to the car and/or care of their Parent/Guardian.

•  Lessons are taught on a back-to-back basis, so it is regrettable that any lateness will not be added to the lesson time. For example, if you are 10 mins late for a 30-minute lesson, you will only receive the remaining 20 mins.

•  You agree to The Music Den using images or video of you or your child for the purposes of advertising and marketing. Please advise us via email  – info@themusicden.co.uk if you’d like to opt out of this.
